The All-Star Deli of Monroe Receives a Middle Eastern Makeover

L-R: Monroe Twp. Council VP Elizabeth “Betty” Schneider, Councilman Leonard Baskin, Owner Elliot Samuels, Mayor Gerald W. Tamburro, Councilwoman Miriam Cohen, Owner Susan Samuels, Councilman Charles Dipierro.

Monroe Township, NJ, 11/16/2019 – The All-Star Deli of Monroe has undergone a change in ownership after new owners, Elliot and Susan Samuels stepped in. Still located at 365 Spotswood Englishtown Road, the new breakfast and lunch restaurant is now called Flo’s Mideast Bistro & Bagels. Visitors to the eatery will notice a breakfast menu not so far-off from what the All-Star Deli had to offer. What’s different is Chef Elliot’s creative approach to Middle Eastern cuisine for lunchtime.

Elliot and Susan Samuels teamed up with 20 Lemons, LLC to create a new brand for their restaurant, a custom website, and a marketing plan aimed to increase awareness of the ownership change. In order to show off the new concept to the local community, the team at Flo’s hosted a ribbon cutting and food tasting event on Saturday, November 16th, 2019. Mayor Tamburro and the council people of Monroe Township were some of those in the local community who came to the Ribbon Cutting.

“We’re excited to introduce flavorful, healthy choices from different parts of the world, while still making delicious, more familiar breakfast items,” said Elliot Samuels, head chef and co-owner of Flo’s.

Flo’s serves a fusion of Middle Eastern favorites right along with a classic breakfast menu. Breakfast begins at 6am every morning, transitioning to Flo’s lunch menu after 11am. The new bistro’s lunch offerings include vegan and vegetarian salads, hot pita sandwiches, baked desserts, and fresh squeezed juices.

With a wide array of choices, Flo’s team is determined to be known for great food, made with quality, fresh ingredients for a fair price. Breakfast customers at Flo’s will be able to choose from their favorite bagels, omelets, and specialty breakfast items like “The Watering Hole”—an egg sandwich with pork roll, bacon, and sausage. Customers who come hungry for lunch will have options like the Roasted Cauliflower & Tahini salad or the Felafel Burger on a bagel.

The restaurant is currently open and accepting orders for eat-in, pick up, as well as via online delivery options like Grub Hub, Uber Eats, and Door Dash.

“I personally love to make this food and it’s even better when I can share with friends and family,” said Elliot Samuels. “We’re looking forward to bringing our own flare to the local community.”

About Flo’s Mideast Bistro & Bagels…

All-Star Deli became Flo’s Mid East Bistro & Bagels after new owners, Elliot and Susan Samuels took the reins. The pair have a love for food that began with Elliot working as a Kibbutz chef in Israel.

Flo’s menu items mimic the food Elliot would prepare in the Kibbutz—for people and cultures spanning from the Middle East, back to America. For this reason, Elliot has put his own spin on the American deli—offering the standard breakfast menu similar to any Jersey Deli, coupled with fresh and delicious Middle Eastern fusion.

Flo’s management takes great care to use fresh, local ingredients when preparing their beloved food. What’s more, Flo’s ownership takes great pride in offering fresh produce and juices with menu items. Stop in today for eat-in or takeout!
